The Salt Officers

A delivery of salt to the Salt House, Sennen

Officers Involved in the Enforcement of the Salt Duty.

The “Parliamentary Register”  Vol. XVI was published in London in 1780 and contains an account of the most interesting speeches and motions made in the British parliament in that session

The Parliamentary Register;
or
History of the Proceedings
and
Debates of the House of Commons;

During the Sixth Session
Of the
Fourteenth Parliament
Of
Great Briton
Vol. XVI

On page 292 there begins an account of the Offices and Employment’s existing in the Salt Duties on the 25th of October 1705. The number of Officers employed with their respective Salaries, and also an account of the Number and names of the Officers with their Salaries as they stood on the 5th of January 1779, distinguishing the time wen any increase in the number of such Officers or their Salaries was first made.

Whilst the list covers the whole of Great Briton I have once again restricted my disclosures to those officers based in Cornwall.
