The following  Submitted by Ron Reed.  

SAMUEL HODGE Commissioned Boatman Coast Guard. Stationed at Charlestown, Cornwall. Born 1838 in St Germans, Cornwall.
He was a Leading Seaman in the Royal Navy before becoming a  Coast Guard. He married ELIZABETH ANN HUDSON at St Antony in Cornwall in 1869. Samuel died in 1912.

I have a ggrandfather who was born in Balbriggan Ireland and later came to Cornwall ,..he was.
Matthew Fawkner born 1798 .Father Mariner , George Fawkner m Ann Griffin .
Matthew started as a sea man when he was 14 and joined the Coast Guard in Ferriters Cove Kerry in 1821 from there he went to Rush Station Dublin 1822 , then Clogher Head , Drogheda and in !824 transferred to Clovelly Devon 1825.
He married here to Alice Finch
He was at Clovelly Station 1825 , then Bradwell , Maldon Port 1826 and on to west Lulworth 1827.
From there to Gerrance Bay Cornwall 1828 where daughter Alice was born.
From Gerrance he was sent to Ilfracombe Devon untill 1832
Alice finch died and Matthew took leave and returned to Clovelly where in 1840 he married widow Elizabeth Heard nee Jennings.

Two children born in Clovelly,Thomas Jennings Fawkner b1841 and Margaratta b 1843.
They then arrived at Falmouth Station in 1843 , doughter Mary b Falmouth 1846.
They spent a year in Southhampton in 1851and returned to Falmouth that year .Matthew retired 1853.
They remained in Falmouth at 153 Higher Brook Street and at Berkley Vale untill Matthews death in 1884 at the age of 85

7 November 1821: Probationary Boatman on St Martins, Isles of Scilly

3 Dec 1823: Boatman at Newquay

7 April 1826: Boatman at Sennen Cove

1841 Census: Princess St. , New Downs , St Just-in-Penwith, Coast Guard

17 March 1848; Boatman at Portscatho, Gerrans

1851 Census: Portscatho, Gerrans, Coastguardsman

11 July 1857: Discharged on Annual Allowance from Portscatho

1861 Census: Superannuated Coastguard living at Bosorne, St Just-in-Penwith

Death: 5 October 1865: Bosorne, St Just-in-Penwith
